VOICING

Tomislav Latinovic, Nancy Costello, Gian Sing Sanghera-Warren

VOICING is a project conceived and organised by Nancy Costello and Tomislav Latinovic - who have worked collaboratively on themes of translation and intimacy in a queer context.

Their pieces exist alongside each other, the choir needing the film and the film needing the choir.

VOICING (film) is a collaboration between artist Tomislav Latinovic and dancer and choreographer Gian Singh Sanghera-Warren. The piece explores the intimate gestures shared between queer participants, movements previously captured in institutional spaces tied to their personal histories.

Gian translates these gestures into a dance of self-intimacy, performed within West Brompton Cemetery's historic gay cruising site. Through his choreography, these movements evolve into a new language of reclamation, offering a way to reclaim space and embody comfort in acts of self-care and personal expression.

Dancer - Gian Singh Sanghera-Warren

Cinematography - Teddy Skinner

Costume - Alba Cruzat

Assistance - Sybil Budworth

VOICING (Choir)

Nancy Costello is a care and alternative education worker, musician, and choir facilitator who explores and questions what we consider to be language.

The choir—meeting once a week at Euston Food Bank—has created a score based on the group's collective understanding of music and language. Using translation and alternative ways of understanding music, the piece has formed its roots in a language.

This Piece is a work in progress, this performance reflects work created over eight weeks and contains ideas and a language that could be infinitely developed.
