Newcastle University Graduate Show

June 20-24th 2024

Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London.

The Newcastle University Graduate Show took place from 20–24 June 2024 at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane, London. This annual exhibition showcased the final-year work of Newcastle University Fine Art students, presenting a wide array of innovative and thought-provoking projects to the public and industry professionals alike. A cornerstone of the show’s success was its unique funding model, relying entirely on student-organised fundraising events. At the heart of these efforts was the Newcastle University Arts Auction, which I led and managed as its primary organiser.

The auction was a vibrant event that brought together student and professional artists, faculty, and the wider community to raise funds for the graduate show. My responsibilities included coordinating contributions from various artists, liaising with stakeholders within and outside the university, and ensuring the smooth execution of the auction. Thanks to the collective efforts of our team and the overwhelming support of the community, the auction became the major source of funding, not only covering the costs of the exhibition but also enabling the creation of a transport fund. This fund provided financial support for students travelling to London to install and present their work, ensuring equal opportunities for all participants.

In addition to fundraising, I oversaw the graduate show’s organisation from start to finish. This included securing the venue, coordinating logistics, arranging transportation of artworks, and curating the exhibition to reflect the diversity and talent of the graduating cohort. Leading this project was a deeply rewarding experience, allowing me to blend my creative and administrative skills while fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration. The event was a resounding success, celebrating the culmination of our academic journey and leaving a lasting impression on those who attended.
